RM/Sotheby's was the last of the big three auction companies to enter the race for sales quotas and price records on March 12, 2016 in Amelia Island. 93 automobiles worth around USD 60 million were offered, and the sale ultimately brought in USD 38.4 million. The sales quota was very good at 87%, it was some of the valuable and early cars that disappointed. There was no shortage of surprises, as the Peel P50 proved at the end. RM/Sotheby's was the last of the big three auction companies to enter the race for sales quotas and price records on March 12, 2016 in Amelia Island. 93 automobiles (a modern Ford GT was withdrawn before the auction began) worth around USD 60 million were offered, meaning an average of over USD 600,000 per vehicle was expected. 44% of the lots were called without a reserve price, but there were still only a few real bargains. With a sales rate of 87%, RM/Sotheby did very well, the final sales total amounted to USD 38.4 million (EUR 34.6 million, CHF 37.6 million), the bids reached an average of 93% of the median estimate, an above-average result.
