On March 10, 2017, Gooding & Co hosted its annual auction on Amelia Island. 88 vehicles with a value of around USD 63 million were up for grabs, and with an average age of around 41 years, the auction was certainly aimed at fans of more modern classics, with only four cars dating from before the Second World War. With 25 cars, the Porsche brand delivered the largest contingent of cars. Only Ferrari, with 14 cars, can still boast cars of a similar size, while the other brands are each represented with a handful or fewer cars. In terms of sales rates, the cars from Maranello fared better than those from Zuffenhausen, with 71% of Ferrari sports cars finding new owners, but only 68% of Porsche vehicles.
