The UK was the center of a purely online auction conducted by Gooding & Co. 14 cars with an average age of 72 years were offered. 12 (86%) of the 14 cars were eventually sold, for an average of £ 438,304 (EUR 508,433, CHF 561,029). Just a few years ago, such a success would have been considered impossible. Things were not looking so good just before the end, with seven cars still below the required limit at the time. In total, the 12 cars achieved £ 5.26 million (EUR 6.1 million, CHF 6.7 million). The auction's flagship was certainly the Ford GT40 with chassis number P/1085. This chassis had to wait until 2009 until it was completed and could then take part in the 2009 Tour Auto, among other events.
