Summary
Dorotheum was able to offer 67 cars and 6 motorcycles/scooters at the summer auction in Vösendorf/Vienna on July 3, 2021. From former everyday cars, often with low mileage, to rare exotics, everything was there. A never-restored Dino 246 GT with a mileage of just 50,291 km was sold for almost EUR 500,000, while many former bread-and-butter cars fetched prices above their original price at the time. 97% of the vehicles were sold directly, with only two cars not attracting enough bids. On average, bids were placed at the level of the median estimate, and almost EUR 64,000 was achieved per vehicle sold. This auction review analyzes the results in detail, showing them in full and with pictures of all the cars.

Preview (beginning of the article)
Traditional auctions with an audience and a hammer were finally possible again, even in Austria. Dorotheum seized the opportunity and offered 73 vehicles, six of which were motorcycles, at the Fahrzeug und Technik Zentrum in Vösendorf near Vienna on July 3, 2021. On average, the 74 vehicles are around 54 years old. Prospective buyers were expected to pay just over EUR 54,000 per vehicle. The brand statistics were led by Mercedes-Benz with 14 cars, followed by BMW (10), Alfa Romeo and Jaguar (5 each) and Volkswagen (4). All other brands were represented with a maximum of one or two vehicles. The estimated values ranged from EUR 3000 to 450,000, the lower end was reserved for two-wheelers, but you could expect to buy a VW Golf GLS, for example, for as little as EUR 8,000 to 12,000. However, interest was particularly high in former bread-and-butter cars and the bids therefore often exceeded expectations.
