On July 1, 2023, Dorotheum auctioned 69 cars, two motorcycles and a tractor with a total value of EUR 2.978 million in Vösendorf near Vienna. The average estimated price per lot was EUR 40,800. 22% of the vehicles were offered without a reserve price. On average, the vehicles on offer are 53 years old. 78% of the vehicles (57 lots) were sold directly, generating a total turnover of EUR 1,644 million. Only 16 percent of purchases were made by floor bidders, 56 percent of the highest bids were received via telephone calls, while internet bidders were responsible for 7 percent of transactions. As many as 21 percent of sales were the result of written pre-bids. These sometimes high pre-bids also influenced the auction, as sometimes the bidding price went straight to double the amount, which certainly slowed down the dynamics in the auction room at times.
