The MG TC that came out of the water...
Summary
During the flood disaster in western Germany in July 2021, some classic cars were also damaged. One of them was an MG TC called "Charlotte", which was literally flooded up to its neck (i.e. the lower edge of the dashboard). Thanks to the careful and sensitive help of a specialist, the classic could be saved. This report explains what work was required and how much effort was involved in rescuing the MG TC.

To avoid any misunderstandings, it should be made clear at the beginning of this report: In view of the more than 180 deaths caused by the flood disaster in July 2021 in western Germany around Baden-Ahrweiler and the loss of livelihoods, the damage to property is of course of secondary importance. But the water did not spare the vehicles either, which raises the question of how classic cars that fell victim to the floods fared. After all, classic vehicles in particular are often more likely to be rescued, even if this may not always make economic sense in extreme cases. Enough preamble. Let's now move on to our protagonist and patient: Charlotte. She is a right-hand drive MG TC from 1948 and the name was given to her by the owner. The red roadster had sunk into the muddy waters in the summer up to the lower edge of the dashboard - which still bears its name quite rightly.
