Preview (beginning of the article)
Almost simultaneously with RM/Sotheby's, the still young auction company Broad Arrow Auctions also held a sale at the Amelia Island Concours on March 4, 2023. On offer were 108 cars worth around USD 47 million. A third of the vehicles went under the hammer without a minimum bid. 81%, i.e. 87 cars, were sold. On average, USD 357,547 was paid per car, with an average bid of 86% of the median estimate. The largest contingent of brands was Porsche, with 19 cars on offer, but only 13 of them were sold (68%). With the highest bids at 84% of the average estimated value for the entire event. Of the ten Ferraris, all were sold, with bids averaging 90% of the median estimate. A good result overall, although the sales prices were significantly lower in absolute terms than at RM.
