Summary
On June 24, 2022, Bonhams auctioned 76 classic cars and one motorcycle at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. However, with two thirds of the vehicles sold, the success was limited. The most expensive car sold was a Frazer-Nash (BMW) 328, while the bargain of the day was a Jaguar XK 150 Competition Roadster. An SS Jaguar 100 2.5 liter was also available at a reasonable price. Our auction review analyzes the results and highlights some special sales.

Preview (beginning of the article)
On June 24, 2022, Bonhams auctioned 78 classic cars and motorcycles at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. However, the success was limited. Only two thirds of the vehicles on offer were sold, bringing in a total of just £6.7 million, which was only around half of the lower total estimate. In the run-up to the auction, the lots had been estimated to be worth a total of 13 to 17 million pounds. In many cases, however, the estimate proved to be a little too optimistic. Of the 50 vehicles sold, 35 were below the estimated price. The fact that many high-caliber cars did not attract the interest hoped for weighed particularly heavily. The two most expensive cars - the McLaren P1 GTR and the Benetton B193 B - were left standing with top bids of 1.6 million pounds and 950,000 pounds respectively.
