Preview (beginning of the article)
49 automobiles worth almost USD 6.3 million will be auctioned by Bonhams on October 8, 2018 at the Simeone Foundation Museum in Philadelphia, along with some automobilia. The average age of 76 years already showed that mainly pre-war cars were on offer. In fact, 31 of the 49 cars were built before 1945; the oldest, a Cadillac Racer, was built in 1910. And it was also good for a positive surprise, because with a sales price of USD 56,000, it clearly outperformed the estimate of USD 35,000 to 45,000. These pre-war vehicles in particular included many brands that had long since disappeared, such as Breese, Hudson, Stutz, Paige and Locomobile.
