Summary
There were around 10,000 car brands and designers - most of them have disappeared. One of these lost brands is Bizzarrini, named after its founder Giotto Bizzarrini. He worked for Alfa Romeo and Ferrari, founded the company ATS in 1961 and then ended up in his own development office, where he designed many different Bizzarrini models over the years. However, Bizzarrini was an engineer and not a businessman, which is why his company went under after four years.

Engineer Giotto Bizzarrini began his career at Alfa Romeo in 1954, moved to Ferrari in 1955 like his colleague Carlo Chiti, where he worked on the legendary 250 series. After the Ferrari "palace revolution" at the end of 1961, he founded the company ATS with Chiti and four other dismissed employees at the beginning of 1962, but left for Livorno in the same year. There he worked in his own development office on the Asa 1000, designed the Lamborghini V12 engine and the Rivolta IR 300 and Grifo models with a Chevrolet V8 engine and DeDion rear axle for Iso. The racing version A3 C (= Competizione) of the Iso Grifo was produced in Livorno from 1964 and the derivative Bizzarrini Grifo Strada le from 1965; new company name: Automobili (instead of Prototipi) Bizzarrini SpA.
