There were around 10,000 car brands and designers - most of them have disappeared. Auto Union, created from DKW, Audi, Horch and the automobile division of Wanderer, can also be counted among these vanished brands. In 1958, AU went to Daimler-Benz, in 1964 the DKW and Auto Union brands passed on to VW and in 1965 the Audi brand was reborn.
