On 28 July 2016, Auctionata organized another classic car online auction in Berlin. On offer was a rich portfolio of well-known and lesser-known classics, including a Tatra 600 Tatraplan, a Shelby Mustang GT500, various BMWs, Porsches and Mercedes-Benz. Of the 40 announced offers, 38 actually went under the hammer, 74% of the lots did not receive any usable bids, 26% could be knocked down under reserve but still require renegotiation. The result cannot satisfy the makers of Auctionata and will certainly give them food for thought. Why was it that the bids did not go higher and so many cars were left standing? Was it the summer weather, the day of the week (Thursday) or the summer vacations in many markets? Or was it the current somewhat cautious buying mood?
