Artcurial "Parisienne" auction 2021 - Records for Group B rally cars
Summary
Instead of selling at the Rétromobile Paris, which was postponed to the summer of 2021, Artcurial auctioned 42 special vehicles at the Hôtel Dassault in Paris on February 5, 2021. The high-class vehicles, including several Group B rally cars, a Le Mans-winning Matra car and a collection of British classics, were estimated at around EUR 30 million. 62% of the vehicles were sold, with buyers paying an average of EUR 610,655 per lot (before VAT, but including commission). High-flyers were an Audi Sport Quattro S1 and a Peugeot 205 T16 Evo II, while a Porsche 550A Spyder and a Bugatti 55, among others, did not find a new owner. This auction report reflects the mood on site and analyzes the results, supplemented by many pictures.

Artcurial had actually wanted to auction off around a hundred cars at the Rétromobile Paris at the beginning of February 2021, as it does every year. But in the second Corona year, nothing is as usual and so Artcurial postponed the Rétromobile auction until the summer and instead organized the "Parisienne" on 5 February 2021 at the Hôtel Dassault in the French capital. 42 vehicles were offered and auctioned off in front of a small local audience, but with the participation of half the world on the Internet browser or via the telephone for a good two hours. On average, the vehicles, including two two-wheelers, were 52 years old. There were no new classics for sale at Artcurial; the youngest car was built in 1995, while its counterpart at the other end of the scale was built in 1913.
