Anadol 1966-1985 - Turkish national pride
Summary
There were around 10,000 car brands and designers - most of them have disappeared. One of these vanished brands is Anadol, which produced vehicles in Turkey between 1966 and 1985. The first vehicles were created with Reliant and used Ford Anglia components. Later, self-designed models were added, but due to competitive pressure, Anadol was finally forced to close in 1985.

The Anadol was developed by the sports and small car manufacturer Reliant; the shape of its plastic body was designed by the English design studio Ogle. This first Turkish car brand was built from 1966 by Otosan Otomobil Sanayii AS in Kadiköy on the Asian side of Istanbul. The 1.2-liter engine of the Ford Anglia and, from 1968, the 1.3-liter engine of the Ford Escort were installed in the body frame of the first two-door Anadol saloons. After more than 10,000 Anadol had already been built, a four-door version was added in 1971. In 1973, the neat STC 16 fastback sports coupé, designed in the company's own design studio, was presented, and in the same year the exemplary modern five-door SV 1600 estate appeared - both had a 1.6-liter OHV Ford engine.
