Stig Blomqvist was already drifting left-braking through the forests of his home country in a Saab 96 when Walter Röhrl made his first attempts at driving a Fiat 850 at the Bavaria Rally in 1968. Blomqvist knows how to brake on the left in his sleep. He has no other choice. How else can such terrible understeers be moved within the curve radii? To make matters worse, the handbrake acts on the front wheels! Nothing can be done with the handbrake. A look at Blomqvist Palmares: winner of the Sweden Rally, the 1000 Lakes Rally, the RAC Rally. The English call him the King of Swing. Audi took him in 1983 and Röhrl also entered the service of the Quattros. Opel and Rothman's nicotine strategy are a thing of the past. Within a very short time, he learns to brake on the left in the new Audi. At the start in Bad Homburg, he seems slightly insecure. He still has to learn and be humble.
