The "BP Racing Trophy" is a coveted award presented by a panel of Swiss motor racing journalists. The prize was first awarded in 1965 to Josef Siffert, and was repeated in 1968 due to Siffert's unusually high performance. In 1966, the award went to Jean-Jacques Thuner and a year later to the driver team Dieter Spoerry/Rico Steinemann. In the past season, Josef Siffert was once again by far the best Swiss racing driver as the most internationally successful driver in endurance races. In the prototypes, he rushed from one victory to the next, winning one success after another with his unusual determination.
