At least 26 Maserati 300 S were built between 1955 and 1959. They are regarded as some of the best racing sports cars of their time and were highly prized by their drivers. Today they are almost priceless, no wonder they were built back then, but sports cars with a similar shape and technology are still being built today. The wind whistles past your head, the whole car rattles and roars. The large wooden steering wheel, close to the chest, needs to be held firmly and guided with an expert hand. This is how Juan Manuel Fangio must have felt when he achieved two major successes in the Maserati 300 S in the 1950s. And for Stirling Moss, the Maserati 300 S was one of the best sports cars of all time, powerful and reliable, well-balanced and easy to drive. And he should know, because in 16 races he won nine times in the Maserati 300 S, plus three second places, one third place and one fifth place. He only retired twice with the Maserati.
