The 30th anniversary edition of The Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance brought with it some variety, as Ferrari did not manage the hat-trick. Instead, several other historically significant automobiles were crowned from March 6 to 9, 2025 on the golf course of the Ritz-Carlton on Amelia Island. A total of 240 cars from 35 classes took part in the beauty contest. In addition to the two "Best of Show" titles, there were also other special prizes to be won (see the table at the end of this article).
This year, the "Best of Show Concours d'Elegance" title went to an Alfa Romeo 8C 2900 from 1938. This example is said to be a prototype for the Mille Miglia of the same year, which differs from an "ordinary" 8C 2900 by a few details on the engine and a larger exhaust system. In addition, chassis number 412028 was the only 8C 2900 to be fitted with bodywork by Farina. The Italian racing driver Giuseppe Farina bought the car new and then had it bodyworked in his father's workshop. It was an emotional day for the current owner, Deborah Keller, as the victory of this car would have made her late husband proud.
The 1967 Lotus 49 with chassis number 49/2 was awarded the title "Best of Show Concours de Sport". It was the second Lotus 49 ever built and made its debut at Zandvoort in 1967 with Jim Clark at the wheel, using a Cosworth DFV engine for the first time. In addition to its Grand Prix victories at Silverstone and Watkins Glen, this car also won four races in the Tasman Series in 1967 and 1968, with Jackie Oliver and Jo Siffert among the drivers. It was driven by Mario Andretti in South Africa in 1969 and sold to Pete Lovely in the same year, who drove 49/2 in several Grand Prix races until 1971. Owner Chris MacAllister is delighted that this car, which is important to the history of Formula 1 and was restored by Classic Team Lotus in 2010, is receiving the recognition it deserves.
The approximately 17,000 visitors voted a 1934 McQauy-Norris Streamliner the most beautiful car of the event in their opinion. Brazilian racing driver and four-time Indianapolis 500 winner Hélio Castroneves presented a collection of historically significant racing cars as this year's guest of honor. Actor, racing driver and motorsport fan Patrick Dempsey was also present on Amelia Island to present his documentary series "Back on Track".
