It was in 1924 when Emil Frey opened his first repair shop on Schwingerstrasse in the city of Zurich at the age of 26. From this grew not only a large network of garages but also a powerful automobile and motorcycle import business. Today, Emil Frey is one of the largest distribution companies in Europe and celebrates its 100th birthday in 2024.

As part of these celebrations, the Emil Frey Classic Center in Safenwil organized an "Open Day" on 6 October 2024 to give the wider public a deeper insight into its activities and to make the Classic Center even better known.

Part of the Classic Center is the Classic Car Museum, which could be visited free of charge on this day. In keeping with the occasion, it featured an exhibition on the development of the Emil Frey Group over the last 100 years.

But there was more to see. It was possible to take a look at the workshop, talk to the archive managers or view the cars that are currently on sale.

Nobody had to go hungry on this day, as everything was on offer, from breakfast and lunch to a variety of snacks - including the tasty "Zigerkrapfen".

The visitors were not bored either. There were XXL games, face painting and gingerbread decorating for the little ones, while the adults were able to admire the numerous classic cars of other visitors or get upside down in the Driving Center's Audi 100 ... and climb out again on their own.

The event was very popular, at times resembling a folk festival, and Winston Churchill must have been delighted with the large number of visitors ...
