The second Group B Rally Legends from July 10 to 11, 2015 made Austrian motorsport history: fans and drivers got their money's worth.
Positive changes
The second edition of the already well-established events came to a spectacular end with the infamous "Hexenkessel-WP" in the heart of Saalfelden am Steinernen Meer. The organizing team of the Group B Rally Legends was delighted with a new attendance record, which was made possible by intensive preparatory work.
Improvements in terms of safety, route guidance and a streamlined program significantly enhanced the second edition of the motorsport event.
Motorsport stars on site
Stars of the motorsport scene, such as the Italian Paolo Diana, European Rally Champion Karl Wagner and Gerda Zauner, the multiple German Rally Champion Ruben Zeltner and many other well-known names, took part in Saalfelden and enriched the unique spectacle with their driving skills.
Witches' cauldron and night of thunder
The highlights of the Group B rally legends, the "Witches' Cauldron" and the "Night of Thunder" led to a real rush of rally fans. They were rewarded for their attendance with probably the most spectacular show that Austrian rallying has to offer - including a Nascar demo drive, a deafening top-fuel dragster and cross-driving race trucks that fascinated the motorsport fans.
Austromobility
It wasn't just rally cars that could be admired in the covered paddock. The exhibits from the fahr(t)raum exhibition under the direction of engineer Ernst Piech, which provided some rare Austrodaimler cars designed by car pioneer Ferdinand Porsche himself, were also a source of amazement.
The drivers were thrilled by the route around Saalfelden, Maishofen and Weissbach bei Lofer: Karl Wagner, two-time historic European champion with international motorsport experience, was visibly impressed: "On some stages you drive within 10 centimeters, so the line has to be just right - for me it was endless fun! The highlight was definitely the street circuit, so many spectators everywhere, everyone cheering, simply fantastic."
Boxing match
Porsche fans got their money's worth at the Group B rally legends. Numerous historic one-offs as well as current RGT cars from Zuffenhausen were impressively maneuvered around the special stages.
Olaf Dobberkau, top driver in the German rally championship: "It was simply a super event. Especially the circuit here and in the driving safety center, the parallel drift with Ruben Zeltner - that was great fun, the audience is simply brilliant. We'd love to come back!"
Up the mountain with the Aston
Kari Makela presented the spectators with the asphalt premiere of his new Aston Martin V8 Vantage. The 4800-kilometer journey was more than worth it for Kari Makela: "The weekend was just great, nice people, fantastic weather! One of the highlights was the hillclimb stage and also down the hill, every stage was perfect."
The organization team of the Group B Rally Legends did a great job, but it would not have been possible without the many helpers, journalists, drivers and spectators. Such a unique rally show is only possible if everyone involved works together. A new edition is already planned ...
