247 prestigious cars were at the start of the exciting Gran Premio Tazio Nuvolari rally from September 20 to 22, 2013. 75 special stages in total had to be mastered by drivers and co-drivers, with only hundredths of a second deciding a podium place from the second day onwards... The author not only reveals the winners, but primarily describes the adventurous rally from the driver's point of view, with all the hardships that had to be overcome. Gabriele d'Annunzio and Tazio Nuvolari - the two names are synonymous with countless legends. This year marks the 150th birthday of the writer and the 60th anniversary of the racing driver's death. So 2013 is a year steeped in history, especially in Italy, of course. D'Annunzio and Nuvolari have the status of immortal heroes, and the veneration of both is unbroken. Gabriele d'Annunzio, writer, poet, playwright, military and political activist and journalist, meets the fastest racing driver Tazio Nuvolari on April 28, 1932 at the height of his popularity in his villa "Il Vittoriale" in Gardone-Riviera on Lake Garda. The "flying devil from Mantua", as Nuvolari is also known, was racing from victory to victory on the world's racetracks at the time. With the words "to the fastest man, the slowest beast", d'Annunzio presents Nuvolari with a small golden tortoise. And legend has it that they were both sitting on the running board of an Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Gran Turismo during this act...
