It was hot on September 1, 2024, really hot. Meterological autumn had actually already begun, but the weather obviously didn't want to know anything about it. As a result, the 5000 or so visitors to the 7th Lägern Classic quickly sought out the shade, especially in the reception area.

This was also where you had the best view of all the arriving classic cars, and there were plenty of them to look at - after all, over 1100 cars, motorcycles and tractors drove onto the event site from the moment the doors opened. The two-lane traffic jam at the entrance was quite long at times, and it was not until midday that the influx began to ease noticeably.
Variety
Only at a few events is there such a wide range of old vehicles to admire. This is partly due to the fact that youngtimers (built up to 2004) could also take part, and partly because the event is open to cars, motorcycles and tractors.

Old Bührer and Hürlimann tractors also took part, and there was no shortage of classic two-wheelers either.
Sixties to nineties particularly well represented
Anyone strolling through the grounds was practically taking a journey through 100 years of Swiss transportation history. It seemed that cars between 25 and 70 years old were particularly well represented.

On display were former bread-and-butter cars such as a Renault 4 CV or a VW Beetle as well as vehicles that already had exotic status back then. Examples include an Aston Martin Lagonda or a Neckar Weinsberg 500 Coupé.

The US scene was also well represented and the friends of the Alfa Romeo brand and in particular the GTV6 model had secured a place of honor.

There was also a large selection of so-called youngtimers, i.e. cars between 20 and 30 years old. There were several younger Porsches on display, as well as an Audi RS2.
No real classic cars?
Anyone listening to the critical visitors could also hear some criticism from time to time, claiming that these young cars - including cars built before 1994 - are not real classic cars. They may be 30 years old, but they look like cars from today.

Of course, a Porsche 928 or a Volvo 740 looks much more modern than an MG TC or a Fiat 500 C, but they have nevertheless long since earned a veteran's stamp.

However, most of the visitors and especially the younger participants, of whom there are significantly more at the Lägern Classic than at other events, were not bothered by this. On the contrary. The variety and breadth of the vehicles on offer was generally appreciated.
All-round package
The Lägern Classic is more than just a static classic car meeting. There is also the opportunity to explore the surrounding area according to a pre-planned route. And on the event site, there were plenty of opportunities to stock up on food and drink so that you didn't get completely dehydrated or go hungry.

More than a long description, however, the picture gallery with over 100 photos shows what the 7th Lägern Classic was like ...
