On 9 September 2018, the organizers of the Dolder Classics gathered classic car drivers on the Dolder ice field above Zurich for the last time in 2018. And they came in droves, which was certainly also due to the late summer weather.

And as always, it was the mixture of older and younger cars that gave the event its special charm. Let us recall what we saw in the form of a five-course menu.
1st course - the exotics
When was the last time you saw a Renault Frégate as a station wagon? There was a two-tone example on site at the Dolder, it had once served as a working tool for a wine merchant.

The Borgward Isabella or the Renault-Alpine A110 Berlinette also have exotic status today.
2nd gear - the super classics
Mercedes-Benz 300 SL, Porsche 911 S or Lancia Aurelia B24S America Spider - they are all among the super classics sought after at the auctions.

This category also includes the Ferrari 250 GT Lusso, which Peter Rau brought to Zurich to give it another drive after an extensive engine overhaul.

3rd gear - the former bread-and-butter cars
One category of car that is always a welcome sight at the Dolder are the former bread-and-butter cars, i.e. vehicles that circulated on our roads in their thousands back then.

Whether it's the once omnipresent VW Beetle, the Autobianchi A112 or the Fiat 127, the public still has vivid memories of many of these cars ... and therefore enjoys looking at them again and again.
4th gear - the particularly shrill
Then as now, there were cars that were/are out of the ordinary.

These include US road cruisers with eye-catching color patterns as well as VW Beetles with a racing look or wildly glued racing sports cars.

And even normal road racers can be pretty but ...
5th gear - the particularly complete
We have saved a very special category for last. These are the cars that their owners like so much that they buy everything that has to do with them and display it together with the car.

A Datsun 200 L might not stand out on its own, but when the model kit is displayed on the rear shelf and the brochure shines under the windshield, it becomes something special.

The situation is similar with the pre-war Citroën B14F Torpedo.

Only the bouquet of flowers and the picnic basket on the rear seat make it stand out from the automotive crowd at the Dolder. Beautiful!

As after every meal, there would of course also be dessert at the Dolder, but for this we refer you to the attached photos in the sense of a buffet.
