The conditions were practically perfect! It wasn't too hot or too cold, the sun was shining from time to time and the classic car community had been waiting a long time for the first big meeting. The "Albisgütli Classics Cars & Bikes" event was therefore just right. Although the initial fee of five francs had led to some discussion in the run-up to the event, the number of visitors hardly changed. On the contrary.
Steady flow
From (and even before) the opening at 09:00, the classic cars streamed in from all parts of Switzerland and even from abroad. Almost 100 years of automobiles (and motorcycles) were represented, with several hundred vehicles looking for a parking space below the Albisgütli inn.
Thank goodness the entrance fee was collected at the end of a slope and things actually went quite smoothly, so that there were hardly ever any long queues. At least not at the cars, but rather at the bratwurst stand.
Great variety
Once again, there was a wide range of vehicles on display, with no shortage of pre-war vehicles or young classics. There were also exotic cars to admire, not only high-priced but also almost forgotten classics such as the Riley Elf or the Opel 1.2.
Expensive cars were parked next to former everyday cars. In addition to the obligatory convertibles and coupés, limousines were also well represented and even estate cars and trucks found their way to the Albisgütli.
The Americans were well represented, whereas at the beginning of the Albisgütli events they were still in the minority. On April 27, 2025, however, the Buick special show certainly helped.
US elegance in the
hall
A fine selection of Buick classics from the post-war period was on display under the roof, ranging from a 1952 Buick Super to a powerful GS 455.
The special show was well attended, with a Studebaker leading the way.
Collegial
Typical of events such as the Albisgütli Classics is the friendly atmosphere and the opportunity to meet up with old friends and talk petrol with strangers.
There was hardly a car owner who would not willingly provide information about his car, hardly a question that remained unanswered.
And in between you could enjoy a bratwurst or a beer. That's how it should be!
Instead of many words, the extensive picture gallery should speak for the event ...
