Somehow it was fitting. On August 3, 2019, a huge herd of Mustangs trotted into the Zug bull stables, where bulls and cows are usually on display. Of course, these were not wild horses, but automobiles, namely Ford Mustangs and their Shelby derivatives.

The Mustang Club Switzerland, which has been active since 1980, had issued an invitation to the biennial major meeting and around 700 Mustang drivers responded to the call and met in Zug in perfect conditions. Just one day earlier, the event would have literally fallen through as it rained cats and dogs on Friday. Saturday, however, turned out to be warm and sunny.
Across the model ranges
As is well known, the Ford Mustang is still being built today and is currently in its sixth generation on the market. The meeting is deliberately not just focused on the historic models, so the average age of the cars on the site was probably less than 20 years.

Nevertheless, almost all model variants and variations, of which there have been many over the last 55 years, could be admired in Zug.
As is well known, the Ford Mustang was introduced in its still valid form with front engine and rear drive in 1964 and then built until 1973 as part of the first generation. During these seven years, the Mustang grew steadily, but also increased in performance.
The famous Shelby Mustang variants were also created during this time.
In September 1973, there was a break with the past, as the second generation of the "pony car" was much more compact again as a result of the oil crisis. Nevertheless, there were once again really big engines, such as in the "King Cobra".
The third generation was built the longest, from 1979 to 1993, but was still the least well-represented generation in Zug.
The fourth generation, built from 1994 until 2004, was a rounded evolution that had little in common with the original Mustang.

This changed again with the fifth generation in 2005, which once again made clear visual reference to the Ford Mustang of the 1960s. The current sixth generation has been in production since 2015.
Entertaining program
Similar to the Oldtimer Sunday Morning Meeting, which also takes place in the Zug bull stables, there was a constant coming and going on August 3, 2019.

However, it was worth lingering a little longer, as the Mustang Club, led by President René Suter, had put on an entertaining program with musical variety and even a cheerdancing show. In addition, special specimens from 55 years of Mustang could be admired in Hall 3.

In between, individual vehicles were presented in a special way. And if you got hungry, you could simply grab a grilled sausage.
Large community
Bringing together 700 vehicles of one type in one day in Switzerland is something that not every brand can achieve! But the Ford Mustang has not just been built for over half a century, it also enjoys a large fan community, which was clearly demonstrated in Zug.
And it wasn't just Mustang owners who came to drive, but also visitors who were able to enjoy a ride in a Mustang as part of a guest drive.
