Convertible drivers, it seems, are a very special breed of people. They are said to have a great desire for freedom, extravagance and vitality. And since women seem to dominate this group, sport - auto sent Ute Glemser, the sister of German champion Dieter Glemser, out on the track in two 12,000-mark cars, the Fiat X 1/9 and the Peugeot 304 S. Ute Glemser seemed predestined for this task to the editors: having been initiated into the secrets of cars and driving by her "big brother" Dieter from an early age, there is actually no common vehicle of recent years that she has not yet driven. Even comparatively "monsters", such as the Ford Transit or the VW Kasten, are not foreign to her - for professional reasons alone. No wonder she wanted to do the same as her brother on the race track. But her successful entry into the touring car class is still a long way off. In Zolder, she was thrown out of the race while slowing down, and later in Hockenheim at the Escort Cup she suffered the same fate twice as drivers who had since become famous elsewhere: best practice time and retirement from the race.
