Photo Gallery «VW 1500 Karmann Ghia from 1961 - The new people's dream car»
Volkswagen wanted to follow up the success of the small Karmann-Ghia in 1961 with a second one in the form of the Type 34. The "big" Karmann-Ghia was based on the Volkswagen 1500 and seemed to have a great career ahead of it in 1961. The magazine "hobby" tested an early example and was very impressed by the capabilities of the new coupé. This report summarizes the original wording of the test at the time and is additionally illustrated with contemporary pictures, a sales brochure and the colour range of the time.
