Photo Gallery «Carefully improving the tried and tested - VW 1200 Export in (historic) test»
Despite increasingly strong competition, the Beetle was still the most successful car in the small mid-size class at the beginning of the sixties, yet unpretentious and frugal. Thanks to a series of barely visible improvements in driving characteristics, it also met higher demands from 1962 onwards. With its smooth 34 hp engine, the VW 1200 was an economical and sufficiently fast means of transportation. This article reproduces the test report from the 1962 Motor-Rundschau.
