The German Toyota sales figures dropped considerably in 1974, Datsun made much more progress. For 1975, Toyota is aiming for 12,000 cars, Datsun for 18,000. In Japan, Toyota is larger and lost less in 1974. The reason for Toyota's hopes for 1975 in Germany: every second Datsun was a Cherry; Toyota still lacked the corresponding small model, which was only launched on the German market in December 1974. In addition to this Toyota 1000, the new version of the Toyota Corolla 1200, competitor to the Datsun 120 Y, was now to provide a boost. Deliveries of the previous Corolla model had stalled since mid-1974 due to a management crisis. The import center was taken over by the factory for 1975.
