In 1965, Rolls-Royce presented the Silver Shadow, paving the way into the modern era. A self-supporting body, hydraulic level control, four-wheel disc brakes and electric assistants throughout the car were "state of the art" at the time. With over 30,000 vehicles sold, this model series was the luxury car manufacturer's biggest success to date in terms of volume. It's easy to understand why Dieter Meyer, professional dandy and Yello frontman, remained loyal to it for years. The Bentley T, identical in construction to the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow. The typical British noblesse, which has always been characteristic of vehicles from the traditional English manufacturer, greets you as soon as you get in. The leather of the seats crunches and creaks. The eye glides over a dashboard that is still really made of wood and the few instruments in the field of vision. Above all, however, it lingers on the Spirit of Ecstasy, also affectionately known as "Emily", which stands steeply on the hood. There is no doubt that you are sitting, or rather enthroned, in a Rolls-Royce, the best car in the world, as the manufacturer confidently proclaimed at the time.
