Like most rally cars from Turin, the rear-wheel drive mid-engined coupé also made sporting history. The Lancia Rally 037 - the number stands for an internal development code - is the successor to the glorious Stratos, which brought the Italians three world rally championships and four prestigious victories at the Monte Carlo Rally. The 037 was able to convincingly build on this success, and the 200 homologation versions built for the road are sought-after collectors' cars today, even though they were not so easy to sell at the time. This article describes the 037 in detail, supported by many pictures from then and now.
