Summary
At first glance, the new Honda Prelude seemed too expensive. But on closer inspection, the coupé actually turned out to be a real equipment miracle. Only the rear seats were little more than a well-padded luggage rack. In the "mot" test, the sporty Accord offshoot impressed with its sophisticated chassis and safe handling.

The Japanese vehicle group Honda may be the largest motorcycle manufacturer in the world, but its highest turnover is now achieved in car manufacturing. And there is a reason for this: Honda's cars are no longer the "stepchildren of the nation". On the contrary, the cars have been adapted to the European style for years. Equipped with modern technology, they no longer need to hide from the competition and have also caught up considerably in terms of styling. In the sixties, the first 360, 600 and 800 models met with little approval from German buyers. The Civic, which had been on sale since 1973, and the Honda Accord, introduced in 1977 under the illustrious name of Golf competitor, were more popular. Their success was an incentive for the Japanese carmakers.
