While the splendid new shape met with harsh criticism from the trade press, it was well received by the public. It was this that made the Ford Taunus TC a sales success despite teething troubles and design weaknesses. As the opulent 2300 GLX, the Taunus suddenly made even far more expensive cars look cheap.
