Extensive and perhaps not entirely unintentional leaks made the Peugeot 204 a long-awaited vehicle. Now, after Peugeot let the cat out of the bag bit by bit, so to speak, it is here and turns out to be better than one might have hoped. It is indeed a modern car in the best sense of the word. But its advantages have to be paid for. Just as proud as the factory can be of it is its price. You have to pay at least 7350 marks for this car with little more than 1100 cc. The version with sunroof costs 7495. At this price, it is hardly an unrivaled offer at first glance. The BMC 1100 Hydrolastik, which is technically closest to it, costs 900 marks less. The considerably larger Renault 16 will not be much more expensive, and the R 8-Major, although different but still comparable, offers similar driving performance and almost the same interior for considerably less.
