It is rare that classic car ownerscan bring themselves to make a classic vehicle available to "Automobil Revue" for a complete test . In summer 2007, the time had come again. A beautiful Jaguar convertible underwent the entire test procedure, including driving performance measurements at the airfield in Interlaken. It has been two decades since the writer last gripped the wooden steering wheel of a Jaguar E-Type, and the open-top beauty mutated into a kind of time machine during the week-long test drives. Almost forgot how sensational an old car can smell. The mixture of burnt oil and petrol fumes from the three twin carburetors, plus the metallic clack as the heated mechanics cool down - a mixture that captivates every car enthusiast.
