The DeLorean DMC-12 was a commercial flop. But its appearance in the film trilogy "Back to the Future" made it a legend, not least as a nuclear-powered time machine. Hardly any other car with a combustion engine seems so suitable for conversion to electric drive. Marton has carried out such a project. This driving report tells you what the result feels like.

The electrification of classic cars is a rather chilly wind in the scene. When a legendary boxer six-cylinder engine or an inline six with Le Mans history that has been developed over decades is replaced by electric motors, part of the soul of the classic car is irrevocably lost. But there is one car for which the conversion seems to make more sense than for most others. And that is the DeLorean DMC-12. John Zachary De Lorean was a dazzling figure who managed to work his way up to almost the top in Detroit at Packard, Chrysler and General Motors. In the 1970s, he developed the idea of a sporty and safe long-term car that would bear his name.
