Borgward Hansa 1500 - How good is the space miracle?
Summary
The Borgward Hansa 1500 was a modern post-war car with a pontoon body and contemporary technology. The magazine "Motor Rundschau" put the limousine through its paces in 1950, chasing it over more than 2000 km and analyzing every detail. The result was a comprehensive technical profile without much prose or poetry. This report reproduces the original wording of the test at the time and shows the Borgward in historical pictures and in the sales literature of the time.

The "Hansa 1500" impresses with its shape and the spacious and comfortably equipped pontoon body. The production of this large-area body in all-steel initially caused some difficulties, which have largely been overcome. (Doors jam when the car is tilted sharply and cannot be opened fully, paint on doors and lids is chipped at edges, noise is difficult to find). It is currently the most spacious German passenger coach. Four people can be seated very comfortably and five to six people can also be transported. (Despite the width, it is tight at the front with three people, as the transmission tunnel is quite large and the gearshift is in the middle). - Track width well utilized. Balanced engine, smooth running for high performance, very powerful and economical.
