Summary
Less weight and fuel consumption: Audi has taken an unusual approach to achieving these goals with the A2 made of aluminum. Some hate it, others admire the bold design. An Audi A2 1.4 TDI from 2001 with an incredible 500,000 kilometers on the clock proves that the smallest car with the four rings at the front can justifiably be counted among Ingolstadt's greatest creations of the last 25 years.

Preview (beginning of the article)
It is said that the Audi A2 is the best quality car that Audi has ever built. Felix Reber from Baden can only confirm this. His 2001 A2 1.4 TDI has over half a million kilometers on the clock. The engine is - of course - still the original one; the young man only had the cylinder head replaced at around 380,000 kilometers. Felix's father, Andreas Reber, bought the car. As there was also a Renault Espace in the garage at home at the time, he wanted a compact and fuel-efficient second car for his commute from the Baden region to Zurich. However, he didn't just want a cheap small car, but a vehicle that was also comfortable and of high quality and therefore suitable for long journeys. Mr. Reber Senior didn't let himself get carried away: apart from a navigation system, the dark blue A2 has the maximum possible equipment, including leather seats and automatic air conditioning. A bench seat for three passengers in the rear was also included. Otherwise, the A2 only came as a four-seater with the corresponding number of individual seats as standard.
