Summary
The Alfa Romeo Montreal was an Alfa like no other. It was originally designed for the 1967 World Expo in Canada, hence the name Montreal. The design was as close as possible to the dream car of the 1967 Expo, and the Montreal became even more technically sophisticated with the V8. Nevertheless, the coupé made it into series production and was built almost 4,000 times. This vehicle report describes the genesis of the elegant coupé and shows the car in historical and current illustrations.

Preview (beginning of the article)
It stood as a dream car and vision at the 1967 World Exhibition in Montreal and three years later it became a reality, another year later you could even buy it, the Alfa Romeo Montreal, intended as the top of the Milanese manufacturer's model range. With the Alfa Romeo 6C 2500, the Italian manufacturer already had a sought-after luxury sports car on offer in the post-war years, and a few years later the Alfa Romeo 2600 Sprint was again able to offer advanced technology in an attractive guise. Bertone had done a good job with the Alfa Romeo Canguro , based on the Giulia TZ and designed by Giorgetto Giugaro, so it was no coincidence that Bertone and Alfa Romeo collaborated again in the second half of the 1960s to build a concept car for the 1967 Expo in Canada.
