Alfa Romeo Eagle - Pininfarina's Alfetta Targa
Summary
There were probably several attempts to replace the Alfa Romeo Spider, launched in 1966. In 1975, Pininfarina presented a concept car based on the Alfetta GT with a targa roof and innovative design elements. The design did not make it into series production, but it is still interesting to look at. This vehicle report describes the Alfa Romeo Eagle and shows it in historical illustrations.

In the 1970s, the three Italian body designers Bertone, ItalDesign (Giugiaro) and Pininfarina engaged in a veritable race with sometimes daring, sometimes near-production concept cars. Bertone presented the Lancia Stratos, the Citroën Camargue, the Lamborghini Bravo and the Ferrari Rainbow, among others. Giugiaro, whose company ItalDesign, unlike its two competitors, concentrated exclusively on design and did not produce any cars, came to the motor shows with the Alfa Romeo Alfasud Caimano, the Lotus Esprit, the Audi Karmann Asso di Picche and the Medici variants, among others. Finally, Pininfarina shone with the Fiat 132 Station Wagon, the Jaguar XJ12 PF, the Fiat 130 Opera and the Peugette 104 Competition, among others.
