Summary
Between 1976 and 1989, Alfa Romeo built the Alfasud Sprint, which shared the technology with the Alfasud and later 33 models. The coupé, which was never built in large numbers, competed with the VW Scirocco at the time and is rarely seen on the roads today. This driving report describes the history of the Alfasud Sprint and shows the car in current and historical images, as well as in the sales literature.

Like its rival from Wolfsburg, the Alfasud Sprint also featured a completely redesigned body based on the mass-produced family saloon. As with the Alfasud saloon, Alfa Romeo commissioned Giorgetto Giugaro to design the bodywork. As he had also designed the VW Scirocco, there were some similarities between the conceptually comparable coupés. However, the "Scirocco Italiano" turned out to be quite independent and elements of the larger Alfetta GT Coupé could also be discovered.
