A "neo-classic" vehicle is typically rare, exclusive and expensive. It also represents what was technically feasible at the time of construction. Renowned photographer René Staud has masterfully staged and photographed 33 such vehicles for this book.
You can dream
For most of us, buying a neo-classic is out of reach. The book, on the other hand, is quite affordable at EUR 80, especially when you consider the value for money.
Colorful cross-section
The 33 vehicles include some models that immediately spring to mind for any sports car enthusiast when thinking of "neo-classics", such as the McLaren F1, the Porsche Carrera GT or the Ford GT 2003.
But there are also rarities that you might not immediately think of, such as a Kremer Porsche 957 K3R Turbo, a three-axle Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG or a Bentley Continental R from 1991.
Overrepresented?
Porsche and Ferrari with five each, and Mercedes Benz with four vehicles make up almost half of the book. Aston Martin is cited with three models (DB1 AR Zagato, One-77 and Vanquish One of Seven).
Small brands such as McLaren (with the F1 and the MP4 12C) or the Huayra from Pagani also make it into the book, as does the iconic BMW Z8.
Whether a large series manufacturer or a car manufacturer does not seem to have played a role in the selection of vehicles for the book.
The future
The BMW i8, the Porsche 918 Spyder and the Mercedes-AMG Project One are depicted as visionary vehicles, as a glimpse into the future, so to speak.
The most necessary information
Jürgen Lewandowski and Tobias Aichele contribute the text. These are a few crisp lines about the respective vehicle, supplemented with the most important technical data. That's fine for an illustrated book.
Who is the book for?
This book is suitable for anyone who is interested in neo-classic cars, especially newer vehicles. The focus of the book is of course on the high-quality, large-format photographs. A bookworm would starve to death, even if the work weighs almost three kilograms, you will get your fill from looking at it, not from reading it.
