To mark its 15th anniversary, the Prototyp Automuseum in HafenCity Hamburg is expanding its permanent exhibition and will be presenting top-class Italian racing and sports cars from Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati and Lancia in the exhibition "The Italian Job" from July 9, 2023.
The Hamburg Automuseum is actually known for its collection with a focus on rare Porsche designs. However, the museum, which was founded in 2008, has written the name Prototype into its specifications because it wants to constantly reinvent itself.
With the exhibition "The Italian Job", the museum is now venturing across the Alps and presenting five hand-picked Italian classics with breathtaking design and powerful technology in a new exhibition space in a changing arrangement. This is how the German "Personen. Power. Wagen." finally meets the Italian "Bella Macchina"!
The following exhibits will kick things off:
Ferrari 212 Export 1951 (V12, 2562 cc, 165 hp, 210 km/h, 975 kg) | This early Ferrari is one of only eight examples of this type built as a coupé by the Turin coachbuilder Vignale.
Maserati A6GCS/53 1954 (inline 6-cyl., 1985.6 cc, 170 hp, 235 km/h, 740 kg) | The Maserati A6GCS is one of the most successful two-seater sports cars in automotive history. This car was used successfully in races by a Sicilian baron.
Lancia Aurelia B24 Spider 1955 (V6, 2451 cc, 118 hp, 185 km/h, 1115 kg) | The Lancia Aurelia was one of the most advanced cars of its time. The Spider was the crowning glory of this model series and its windshield is reminiscent of the legendary Riva motorboats.
Lamborghini Miura P400 1967 (V12, 3929 cc, 350 hp, 274 km/h, 1180 kg) | The Miura was and is a style icon, the fastest road sports car of its time and simply uncompromising. A milestone in automotive history!
Ferrari 275 GTB/4 1968 (V12, 3286 cc, 300 hp, 268 km/h, 1300 kg) | Ferrari's top model at the time was and still is one of the most sought-after Ferrari production cars, driven by film stars such as Steve McQueen and Alain Delon.
In order to really appeal to all the senses in future, the Prototyp car museum is also celebrating the opening of its new pop-up listening bar, which, just like the Italian dream cars, makes hearts beat faster with phenomenal sound.
