As last year, RM Sotheby's is organizing the traditional Paris auction on 28 January 2026 at the Louvre in the city centre. There will be 81 vehicles on offer, including a Vespa and a trailer. Some automobilia will also go under the hammer, and several children's cars will be on offer.
Together, the 81 vehicles are worth around EUR 98 million, with each vehicle expected to fetch over EUR 1.2 million. That is a lot for an auction away from Pebble Beach. 47% of the vehicle lots will be offered without a reserve price. On average, the vehicles are almost 49 years old.
Ferrari, Porsche and Mercedes-Benz
With a total of 42 cars, the three brands Ferrari, Porsche and Mercedes-Benz already account for more than half of the auction catalog. 23 Ferraris with an average age of 38 years want to find new owners for an average of EUR 3.13 million.
Ten Porsche cars are on offer. The "no reserve" lots for both Ferrari and Porsche tend to be the exceptions, while seven of the nine Mercedes-Benz cars will go under the hammer without a reserve price.
Bentley is at the start with four cars, they are on average 100 years old and are all offered "No Reserve", while this proportion is 80% for the five Jaguars.
Worth millions
The eleven most expensive vehicles at RM Sotheby's in Paris are all valued at over three million euros.
The most expensive car is said to be the Ferrari 250 GT LWB TdF from 1956, whose value is listed in the catalog as "in excess of EUR 13,000,000". This is "THE" Tour-de-France, i.e. the car with which Portago won the Tour de France, which gave the car its name.
Only a short distance behind this racing Ferrari is a Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spider from 1960, which is expected to fetch EUR 12 to 14 million.
The next two "places" also go to Ferrari, namely a 1997 F310 B Formula 1 racing car, which was briefly driven by Michael Schumacher at the time and is now expected to fetch EUR 5.5 to 7.5 million.
It is followed by an F50 and a 288 GT, separated only by a Bugatti.
The rest of the top 10 is made up of three more Ferraris and a Lamborghini Miura P400 SV from 1971.
Incidentally, the Ferrari Dino 206 S from 1967 is one of 18 206 S and one of 13 with a semi-open body, was once part of the Bardinon collection and is now expected to fetch EUR 3.8 to 4.2 million.
A Bugatti Bolide
Only 40 Bugatti Bolide cars were built; they were intended as "track only" vehicles and are not road-legal. The 1600 PS hyper sports car's mileage of just 112 km is therefore perhaps a little less surprising.
The rare opportunity to buy one of these cars is said to be worth EUR 4 to 6 million to the buyer.
Extensive SL selection
The SL selection is certainly also of interest to star enthusiasts.
On sale are not only two 300 SLs as a Gullwing and Roadster from 1954 and 1962 (both without a minimum price), but also two SLS variants (closed and open) and three SLR versions.
Porsche trouvailles
Among the ten Porsches, two 356 Carrera 2s (open and closed), the 911 Carrera RS 2.7 Touring from 1973 (EUR 425,000 to 625,000, no reserve) and a Kremer 962 from 1988 (EUR 800,000 to 1 million) stand out in particular.
Exotic
The Talbot-Lago T26 Grand Sport from 1951, which is looking for a new owner for EUR 800,000 to 1.2 million, is likely to fall into the exotic category.
The open-top racing sports car can impress with its participation in Le Mans and the Mille Miglia as well as a number of other events, but the really big victories eluded it.
The Renault Clio V6 Phase 2 from 2001 is also quite French, but in a much more budget-friendly price range. In fact, it is one of Tom Walkinshaw Racing's development cars, only 12 were built. The semi-prototype has now covered 32,145 km and is expected to find its third owner for between EUR 70,000 and 100,000.
Old Alfa team
Two pre-war Alfa Romeo cars come under the hammer in Paris.
It is a 1934 8C 2300 ls Long-Chassis Le Mans Tourer from 1934, estimated at EUR 2 to 2.5 million, and a 6C1750 Gran Sport Series IV Spider from 1930 with an estimated value of EUR 1.4 to 1.8 million.
Less expensive vehicles
But you can also become the owner of an interesting car for five figures at RM Sotheby's in Paris.
For example, you could buy a 1971 VW 1302 for as little as EUR 13,000 to 16,000.
Two Jaguar E-Type restoration projects are looking for a new enthusiast for EUR 30,000 to 60,000 each. The 1965 Coupé has already benefited from work on the bodywork at Jaguar Land Rover Classic, while the early 1963 Roadster still needs a little more work.
For EUR 40,000 to 70,000 you could buy an Alfa Romeo 2600 Sprint from 1964, for a little more an early Chevrolet Corvette C2 from 1963.
Even the VW Type 2 as a 21-window bus from 1967 should remain under EUR 80,000.
It is worth taking a look at the RM/Sotheby's catalog, which contains many pictures and extensive notes on each car.
