Automobili Lamborghini dedicated the Polo Storico Giro 2026 to the 60th anniversary of the Miura. The exclusive, dynamic drive for Miura collectors from Europe, America and Asia took place from May 6 to 10. Covering a distance of more than 500 kilometers, the route led through Piedmont, Liguria, Tuscany and Emilia-Romagna and ended at the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari as part of the second edition of the Lamborghini Arena.
The Polo Storico Giro 2026 combined driving pleasure with exclusive activities while celebrating the heritage of the Miura and the special features of the Italian regions it passed through. From the hills of the Langhe, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, via the Ligurian coast, the route continued through Tuscany between Carrara and Florence. The tour finally reached its destination of Imola via the Apennines. Tailor-made stopovers and carefully curated gastronomic experiences enriched the journey and created a dialog between culture, region and innovation.
The birth of a super sports car
"With the Miura, Lamborghini didn't just create a car, but gave birth to the very idea of the super sports car," comments Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. "The Polo Storico Giro 2026 pays tribute to that very moment: the moment when courage, beauty and innovation came together to redefine what a Lamborghini could be. The Giro offered customers from all over the world the opportunity to drive the first super sports car in history with the direct support and organization of the company itself, while presenting a unique parade of Miura models to enthusiasts at the Lamborghini Arena."
During the Giro, all evolutionary stages of the Miura were represented, including the P400, P400 S and SV, providing a complete overview of the model's development. A Miura SVJ of extraordinary importance attracted particular attention: after the conclusion of the tour, its careful preparation for inclusion in the vehicle collection of the Museo Lamborghini began. It will thus enrich the "Miura: Born Incomparable" exhibition, where it will be on display until the end of 2026 together with other outstanding exhibits. Also of exceptional interest was one of the two Miura SV prototypes - a unique vehicle that was used for the development of this version and is certified by Lamborghini's Polo Storico classics department.
"With the Giro 2026, Lamborghini Polo Storico is once again reaffirming its mission," explains Giuliano Cassataro, Head of After Sales at Automobili Lamborghini. "It not only preserves and enhances the company's heritage through archive, certification and restoration activities, but also gives these cars the opportunity to be driven, experienced and kept alive through special initiatives such as this tour. It's a process that starts with documentation and extends to the road - where historic cars like the Miura continue to express their identity and nurture their enduring legend."
20 teams and 500 kilometers
The Lamborghini Polo Storico Giro 2026 began on May 6 in Cerreto Langhe, a picturesque village in the heart of the Langhe hills, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where all the Miura drivers and guests gathered. The event kicked off with a dinner for the sports car enthusiasts. The following day, May 7, the vehicles left the Piedmont hills for the Ligurian coast. The convoy stopped for lunch in the hills of Gavi. After covering a total of 195 kilometers, the teams reached Rapallo in the evening and then crossed over by boat to Portofino, where a dinner in a Michelin-starred restaurant awaited them.
On May 8, they continued their journey between the coast and the hills towards Florence, covering around 220 kilometers. The first coffee stop was in Brugnato, which opened its historic center to the Miura especially for the occasion and decorated the two main squares with traditional infiorate - elaborately designed flower carpets. They paid tribute to local craftsmanship and created an atmospheric moment of close connection between the vehicles and the region. The route then continued to "Robot City" Carrara, where the centuries-old tradition of marble quarrying meets state-of-the-art robotic technologies and provided an extraordinary backdrop for lunch. In the afternoon, the convoy reached Florence, where the 20 Miura cars with their timeless beauty and the unmistakable sound of the V12 engine attracted the attention of the public. The festive conclusion of the day was a dinner at Palazzo Borghese, one of the most outstanding examples of Florentine Baroque architecture. In its monumental halls and ornately decorated interiors, the guests were greeted by an ambience of exceptional historical significance.
Highlight on the Imola racetrack
On May 9, the tour continued its journey towards Imola, with a brief stopover in Scarperia in the heart of the Mugello region. From there, the route led over the Futa and Raticosa passes - legendary roads of the Italian automotive tradition, which are still used today for the development and testing of Lamborghini vehicles. The Giro reached its climax with the arrival at the Imola circuit: access to the Lamborghini Arena and a parade to mark the 60th anniversary of the Miura united enthusiasts, collectors and participants in a joint celebration of the brand.
The experience concluded with the guests taking part in the activities at the Lamborghini Arena, where they were able to experience the present and future of the company from Sant'Agata Bolognese up close. Of particular note was the evening of May 9, when Miura collectors came together for a festive gala dinner. At this event, Automobili Lamborghini presented the new open-top V12 Few-Off model, the Fenomeno Roadster. Its design and color scheme pay homage to the 1968 Miura Roadster. On May 10, the Miura models still in Imola at the time took part in the event's grand finale parade and drove around the track in front of thousands of enthusiasts together with collectors from all over the world and other Lamborghini vehicles.
One of the defining features of the Lamborghini Polo Storico Giro 2026 was the exceptional quality of the participating vehicles. Of the 20 vehicles in total, the majority had already been certified by the Polo Storico, while the others began the certification process when they arrived in Italy. This once again underlines the role of the Classic Department as guardian of the authenticity and historical value of Lamborghini vehicles.
