The Eifel Rallye Festival is one of the most internationally acclaimed events to show historic rally cars in action. Daun will once again become the 'home of historic rallying' in July 2023. Once again, it will be a worldwide 'class reunion' of the rally scene. Preparations are already in full swing with some new features.
Friends of historic rallying around the world will be marking this date in their calendars: From July 27 to 29, the Vulkaneifel region around Daun will once again be transformed into a rally museum on wheels. Over 150 original or faithfully reconstructed contemporary witnesses to rally history will be on display in the Rally Mile in Daun.
On the demonstration tracks in the Vulkaneifel region, fans can experience the visual and acoustic pleasure of these racing cars in action. Although the vehicles are the stars of the festival, their former chauffeurs and many people involved in this fascinating sport are also drawn to Daun every year for the international class reunion of the rally scene.
The planning is already underway and the first key points have been determined: "The shakedown on Thursday in the 'Kelberger Land' is traditionally followed by the welcome evening with open-air cinema in the rally mile," explains Otmar Anschütz, head of organization for the major event and chairman of the organizing MSC Daun. "For the Friday and Saturday stages, we are aiming to keep the tried and tested but also offer something new for the teams and fans. There will certainly be some surprises," adds Anschütz.
"In the previous ten editions of our festival, we have made huge progress in the quality of the participating vehicles," says Reinhard Klein, who is responsible for the composition of the field of participants as the head of 'Slowly Sideways', the Europe-wide association of owners of historic rally vehicles. "We want to continue along this path in the future. It is also fascinating for me to see the unique gems from the history of rallying that we have already been able to present here. But there is still much more to discover - and we are working on it."
