The "Eigenthaler Revival" was announced for 9 and 10 September 2023, but the organizers have now pulled the plug early. The event did not fail because of the environment or permits, but because potential participants were uninterested.
We quote the letter of refusal:
"With tears in our eyes and a downcast look, we have to cancel the "Eigenthaler Revival". We had been working on our concept for this unique event for several years. We met with experienced event organizers and were able to draw on their experience to develop the best possible concept. We were able to present our concerns to the authorities and we were taken seriously.
We also always took into account our very own concerns for our environment. We certainly had to deal with skeptical questions, which we were aware of. We were not always completely convinced, but with mutual respect and fair compromises, we were able to achieve our goal. Compared to the years 1923 and 1968 (the first and last Eigenthaler), we find ourselves in a growing settlement area and a highly frequented street for living and leisure. And yet we were able to experience a positive attitude.
Even if we can assume all these positive values, it cannot be denied that we were still only able to attract a small fraction of the necessary participants for the "Eigenthaler Revival". We certainly took this scenario into account in our SWOT analysis, but we were surprised that reality caught up with us, especially as we thought we were very well connected in the classic car scene.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those involved and well-wishers for their help and support. Since the founding of the association, we were convinced that we would be able to organize a unique event. The Rubico has been passed and we will leave the "Eigenthaler Revival" to history."
Additional accompanying words from OC President René Zinner:
"It's not always easy to jump over your own shadow. With enough pragmatism and insight, it may succeed. The attached message is about letting an idea "blow away in the wind".
But we will definitely enjoy the breeze at one or two events and indulge in the smell of freedom."
Too bad, it would be too nice if the famous Eigenthal mountain race could take place again ...
