For the third time after the restart in 2021, the historic 1000 km race will once again be held at the Nürburgring from September 15 to 17, 2023. An extraordinary experience awaits both drivers and fans at this event: over a period of more than six hours of thrilling racing action in the Green Hell, the world's most beautiful and challenging race track. The participants range from the cars of the '60s and '70s to the cars from the early years of the DTM.
The practice session starts at 08:00 on Saturday morning. The starting lights will then turn green at 12:30. The winners of the endurance classic are expected to cross the finish line and be waved off at around 18:30. Around 100 teams are currently expected to take on the challenge for man and material.
Even 70 years after the first 1000 km race at the Nürburgring, which was once won by Alberto Ascari and Giuseppe Farina in the Ferrari 375 MM Vignale, this format has lost none of its appeal. In 1953, 50 vehicles competed in the World Sports Car Championship. This event still embodies purist motorsport in its purest form, without "balance of performance" or standing time regulations and with a free choice of tires.
The "Porsche Experience" awaits spectators as a special program item between practice and the race. The 75-year history of Porsche sports cars will be brought to life in a special run around the entire Nürburgring circuit. All air-cooled variants from the Porsche 365 to the Porsche 993 will be at the start.
