Turn the handle in a clockwise direction to release the bonnet, after which the bonnet will rise about two inches until held by a springloaded safety catch (see illustration on page 46). Insert the fingers and push back this catch, when the bonnet may be lifted right up. The bonnet is held open by two telescopic prop rods which automatically lock in the fully extended position. To close the bonnet, raise the bonnet as far as it will go to release the locking device; then lower the bonnet, thus permitting the prop rod inner slide to travel down its outer channel. Hood: To lower the hood first release the tenex fasteners securing the hood to the body, commencing with the turn buttons at the rear of the doors and working in towards the body centre. Next release the tenex fasteners along the windscreen top rail, lift off the hood and fold it neatly. Finally, pull out the hood frame assembly from its sockets, press the sticks together and stow the assembly in the luggage compartment together with the folded hood.
