... SPACIOUS, SUMPTUOUS Everybody's startled by the carrying power of the Cortina Estate Car. Five passengers have ample room, whilst the loadspace puts many larger, more expensive cars to shame. With the back seat folded (in a few easy movements), loadspace measures 56 cubic feet; with the back seat up, 27 cubic feet. By routing stresses through every panel of the unitary body, a really rugged, lightweight structure has been produced that costs less to buy and saves in fuel bills. An exceedingly practical feature of the Cortina Estate Car which few vehicles can match is the length of the loadspace—77i inches with the rear seat folded flat. This is more than enough to provide comfortable sleeping accommodation for at least two people—quite a point when holiday touring is under consideration. If work and pleasure motoring need to be combined in one vehicle, the Cortina Estate Car is a natural choice. Saloon car comfort, trim and refinement of driving have been combined with vansize carrying capacity in one sleek and graceful vehicle. The Cortina's safetypadded facia wins high marks for neat, efficient design. A large strip speedometer lies right before the driver, with fuel gauge to the left, warning lights to the right, and odometer beneath it.
